Don’t Vote Yes Out of Fear

28 Nov

Have you been hearing that if we don’t ratify this contract, we’re in danger of losing the small gains it includes and will likely have a worse contract imposed upon us?

This is the argument being made by the majority of the local’s bargaining team, but it’s a fear tactic. Read this letter by our friends in AWDU at UC Santa Cruz to get the real story:

Don’t Vote Yes Out of Fear.

And here are three important facts about what voting NO will mean.

It’s important that every member knows winning the NO vote won’t get us a better contract over night–by voting NO, we’re saying that we’re ready to wage a real contract campaign, in which the members of the local decide what our demands are and will fight for them through mobilization of the members.

Voting starts today on all campuses! Berkeley members, join us for the membership meeting today, Monday, 5pm at the union office: 2070 Allston Way, Suite 205.
