Unfair Labor Practice Charges

On September 20, 2010, UAW 2865 filed unfair labor practice (ULP) charges against UC at the California Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) over UC’s bad faith bargaining that is proving to be an impediment to reaching a fair contract. UC’s conduct includes: not providing information the union has requested (for example, the cost of remitting non-resident tuition, the cost of remitting campus fees, the cost of expanding the child care reimbursement program, the cost of expanding family-friendly leaves and the number of appointment letters that are sent out right before the fall term starts); and engaging in surface bargaining by, for example, rejecting proposals by saying they are too expensive but failing to provide the cost.
